We have a mission as human beings: to better our lives and the lives of others. We better our own lives by adopting a positive attitude and striving to improve ourselves. In turn, we enrich the lives of others by sharing our experiences, love, cooperation, patience, and passions. When others are able to apply these principles, the human experience is at its pinnacle. Despite our tragedies, destructions, failures, and disappointments, we can always change a negative impact into a positive outcome.
In the spring of 2009, I had the opportunity to speak to the graduating students of a local high school. I was asked to encourage the students to continue their education in whichever way they choose, whether academically or otherwise.
I accepted this assignment with joy and enthusiasm. My theme How to achieve a happy life allowed me to relate my life experiences, wisdom and insight to them.
Their appreciation of my presentation moved me to write this book. Although my message has now expanded to a larger audience, my purpose of wanting others to have a happy life remains the same.
Life is never meant to be easy. Everyone has their own interesting personal stories to tell. Like others, my story tells of obstacles, challenges and a unique life experience.
Despite all the challenges, I remain a happy man. I maintain a very positive attitude and have learned how to understand others and resolve issues. I maintain a positive outlook and enjoy a very meaningful life.
Please join me as I reminisce about my childhood, my journey to America, my life as an immigrant, and my successes and failures. I will show you how to achieve a happy life through ancient wisdom and modern philosophy. I hope that you can discover new perspectives to guide you. You will be rewarded with a H.A.P.P.Y.L.I.F.E.
Your approval of my speech and your valuable comments on my message about enjoying a happy life moved me to write this book. Your appreciation has encouraged me to devote myself to helping others to live their own happy life. You have offered me a new mission and higher purpose. Thank you for renewing my passion.
"In the spring of 2009, my school and I invited Thick Chin to speak to five 12th grade English classes. As their teacher, I was trying to impress upon my students the importance of continuing their education after high school. Unfortunately, my efforts were falling on deaf ears and I felt that the message to the students could be better delivered by an outside source. I knew exactly who would be my motivational expert, my "ace-in-the-hole," who could effectively reach my students. He has always been an inspiration to me and I was certain he could inspire my students, as well. We were not disappointed. Mr. Chin was up to the task and performed spectacularly.
After Mr. Chin spoke, I asked my students to evaluate his lcture as a homework assignment. Frankly, I was stunned by many of their responses, even humbled. My students soaked up Mr. Chin's wisdom like sponges. I was so touched by their responses that I copied them and gave them to Mr. Chin. I told him, "Mr. Chin, your impact on my students was tremedous...take a look at these letters."

I really enjoyed Mr. Chins visit and would love to have him back. He came off really nice, very respectful. He had a lot to share, especially his life.
He said a lot about education and realizing what it is and how important it is in life. It stood out to me when he talked about the 12-year foundation we have already built in school. I never looked at it like that before.
He is a spiritual man and his testimony made me feel like life isnt as hard as I think or make it out to be. He also made me feel like I could conquer just about anything after all he went through.
Mr. Chin is a wonderful man and speaker. I would love to have him back again. He is very inspiration and I liked to listen to him talk through his THICK CHIN

The way he came into the classroom and started the conversation was quite interesting, and is what made it awesome. I was quite shocked about how comfortable he seemedthe way he explained everything was excellent.
Overall he is one of those speakers who seemed to do that as a full-fledged job.

When Mr. Chin came to talk to us on Friday, I did not expect it to be as wonderful as it was. He really made me think about my attitude and how I need to have better patience
I also thought it was really sweet that he felt like it was an honor to meet us I really did learn a lot of knowledge and understanding from his speech. I would love and be honored if he came back another day and taught more about his country and his language.

Mr. Chin was inspirational. A natural motivational speaker. The entire presentation really moved me. Every factor of his mission statement was something of an eye-openerIt made me want to rethink my life... Anyone can gain perspective if they take time to listen.

Last Friday, a speaker came to our English class to speak to us. His name was Mr. Chin. He was very polite and nice. He spoke to us about his culture, heritage and where he grew up. He was so happy, full of joy and proud of where he came form and what hes doing with his life.
I cried after I heard his stories. Mr. Chin inspired me to never give up on achieving my goals. We must always think positive with a positive attitude. Mr. Chin made a very good point about love. Without love, there will be no happiness in life.

I felt like we had a lot in common based on our background. We both came from third world places where living is hard. We didnt have real opportunities as we do here in the US. We both came here not speaking English, and we learned it and now we do. Most of what he talked about brought back memories of my past, but at the same time, I was proud of myself as I thought of my accomplishments in 5 years.
Mr. Chin has been through a lot. He has made mistakes and has learned from them. That is what made him who he is. Its hard to really understand the life of somebody like him unless you have lived in the same position or have known him for a long time. Now he owns businesses and lives a good life after all the troubles he faced. You just cant live without experiences. You cant get better without practicing.
His story inspired me to keep working hard until I cant any more. Thank you Mr. Allred for inviting someone like him to come speak to our class.

He really made me think about my attitude and how I need to have better patience. I really did learn that I needed to be just a little more patient because you never know what kind of day someone else is having.
